and to continue...

Well I went to sleep in the rain and I woke up in the rain …and one look out of the window made me realise that actually not much birding was going to take place. O/ Just before we left Ebb and Flo I managed a photograph of a Guinea Fowl… O**

Image

One day I will get the better of Ebb and Flo….

We went off to George and the motor show – it rained on and off and many a time I wondered why I was doing this. Eventually the sun popped out but by then I pretty much looked like a bedraggled rat.
Eventually it was time to meet the other G-wagons and head off to Burchell’s Camp.

Image

There was some excitement in this because I was hoping to get a Amur Falcon along the way. We headed along the Old Knysna Rd. I was scouring the telephone poles and lines for an Amur Falcon and eventually I spotted one but we were unable to stop. 0' Now I was fed up…travelling in convoy does not help with birding. As luck would have we came across another few Amurs and this time we were able to stop...and I managed a proof shot…another lifer O\/

Image

And around the next corner I managed to get a white stork.

Image

What really irritated me though was that whenever we stopped to regroup there wasn't a single bird around..nothing. 0' Perfect opportunity ...but not a feather to be seen.

Image

The rest of the trip was uneventful and we eventually arrived at our destination albeit two hrs late. It had rained quite a bit and the roads were potholed and muddy and slippery. The camp and surrounds were beautiful but there was mud everywhere...the toilets were open air, hidden behind a tree halfway UP the mountain side. The showers were also open air, hidden behind a tree halfway DOWN the mountainside. I seriously lost my sense of humour !!!!! @#$

What was to be seen on the George Classic car show?

Perhaps a 4x4 outing is for mud lovers rather than bird lovers, Michele O** Did you read the programme before you booked? --00--

The Guineafowl is a good one ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^
