What made it cool is spotting them from faaaar then waiting for them.
H.e they say you can spot a hippo coming by the bubbles that rise to the surface...so true =O:

sure enough the lions were waiting for the sun to set just outside camp ! O-/
Camp being one tent , no witnesses to the pending lion attack, no fence etc =O: =O:

I obviously survived the night, the lions had gone silent,
so each time a jackal yapped a warning we would search for them with the spotlight, whilst we sat around the fire.

We had an elephant bull come stop next to the tent at midnight, lay listening to him ...willing him to move on O-/

Spotted lions in the distance waited for lioness and cubs to come drink, the big males stayed away :-(

That's a very old buffalo which isn't scared of the lions lol

Any pictures of this huge camp and high fences around it -O-
