Just a pity the park is so far away otherwise I would have been there more often. The first time I toured in that area was in 1998 just after I got married and I decided to book a canoe trip for the two of us. Great memories and now we share it with the kids.Pumbaa wrote:Caught up, Bushveld Jock,

Your photographs are stunning - specially the night ones
Looking forward to more.
Its really a special place and every time new adventures. Some of the photos on this trip was first time sightings although we've been to the park years back.

Can't believe how tall Moshi is!
We were on a geocache hunt again and one of the treasures were on this property but felt bad to trespass and only took pics. Its right on the beach and a perfect for a relaxing holiday. Only problem the cold water.
Yes he is growing up fast and pass mum in length. This year I must take a pic of him at Unions End again (3rd time) just to show the difference in 2 years time which you do not notice until you look back at old photos.

We were very lucky to get such wonderful weather at Port Nolloth. Normally very misty the whole day long setting a dull scenery without sunshine.nan wrote:me too, the boats and the sky

Day 3 (30 March): Sendelingsdrift to Tatasberg Wilderness Camp Part 1
We left Sendelingsdrift early in the morning at dawn and as we were driving through Halfmens Pass we saw the rays of sunlight peeping over the mountains. This is maybe not the best time to leave, because of the sunlight blinding one as you traveling in a easterly direction and an hour later might have been better. Somehow we missed the Halfmens plants and only saw the quiver trees and other succulent plants.
The reason for visiting the parks is mainly to see the unique landscapes of rugged mountains and rock formation, Orange river as well as the plants that amazingly survives here. One of the reason for plant to grow here is the fog that moves over from the park during early mornings, which we saw as we were driving along Halfmens, Penkop and Akkedis passes.
Euphorbia dregina, Dikboud - melkbos
At the top of Hafmens pass we turned left towards a rock called The Hand of God. Its a no-entry road to the Oena mine, but opened for tourist up to the rock about 200 meters down the road. This was our first visit, because previous there was no information about it and the road was closed.

Vygies along Halfmens pass:Rugged kloofs, high mountains and dramatic landscapes that sweep away inland from the Orange River divulge the fact that you are now in the vast mountain desert that is the |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld National Park, an area managed jointly by the local Nama people and the South African National Parks. This is a harsh and unpredictable land where water is scarce and life-sustaining moisture comes in the form of early morning fog – called ‘Ihuries’ or ‘Malmokkies’ by the local people – which rolls in from the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, sustaining a remarkable range of small reptiles, birds and mammals. A staggering assortment of plant life, some species occurring nowhere else, is to be found here, with gnarled quiver trees, tall aloes and quaint ‘half-mens’ keeping vigil over this inscrutable landscape.
