The small bananas (there are none in this pic) are delicious, much better than the normal sized ones. O/\

A boat trip through the local back waters, which compared to the ones further north are very small. You will see the real ones in the New Year ;-)

Now to the difficult part 0*\

We saw quite a few birds, but from there and to taking a decent pic the road is a difficult one, at least for me and on a moving boat 0*\

A sort of sea eagle, smaller than the SA fish eagle. A Brahminy Kite :ty: Nan

Image

A little cormorant

Is there something sitting out there :-?

We'll sail closer

Image

A snakebird ^Q^ ^Q^ (Oriental darter)

Coffee finished 0/*

Then I heard someone calling: Kingfisher!!

And there it was a beautiful big White-breasted kingfisher

Image

Boat rolling and the "best" pic became a blurd 0*\

Image

Image

I was so happy to have seen a kingfisher O/\ O/\

and then a couple of Blue-tailed bee-eaters :ty: Nan for the ID

Image

Image

Image

No lack of palmtrees O**

Image

A big Indian cormorant

Image

Image

Luckily there was not much traffic, actually we only met a few boats going out when we returned ....and some empty ones ;-)

Image

Image

and this is when I ran out of battery 0*\
I only got this pic of a kind of stork

Image

and when I had changed the batteries the bird was of course gone :-(

Our "driver"

Image

A scene of village life

Image

End of backwater outing :-(

On the way home we had to stop at the doctor's because Fa has a swollen, hurting, inflamed ankle/back of the foot. The Doc THOUGHT that he had been bitten by something (I am less sure about that) and gave him antibiotics and two kinds of ointments and told us to come back on Sunday. I have just cancelled our table for our Christmas lunch as Mister is not feeling too well (foot hurting) *sigh* :-(

I might go to the beach later though -O-
