Every new day is filled with endless possibilities. Witnessing Nature-in-the-moment opens up the entire spectrum of human emotion.
The joyful first steps of a newborn, the comical play of innocent youth, the exquisite nurturing and interaction of mother and child, and the strong bonds that adulthood requires to ensure their very existence is juxtaposed against the other side of the double-edged sword. The helpless vulnerability of newborns, the toll inexperience takes upon the orphaned or abandoned, aging and illness, extremes of natural weather cycles, and the necessary predator kills that bring such anguish.
This tension between the proverbial agony and ecstasy reminds me of the song "Turn, Turn, Turn"
(by The Byrds, based on Ecclesiastes 3)
To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to be born,

a time to die

A time to plant,

a time to reap

A time to kill,

a time to heal

A time to laugh,

a time to weep
