Kruger have just responded to formal queries regarding the incident saying that it is "impossible" and they have no knowledge thereof!

I see that the story is in the Beeld. I have only seen the electronic version, now waiting for it to reach Phala in hard copy. Unfortunately some facts are wrong, like the R672 is NOT the fine, that will be given to the perp today. I also did not take them to Kruger gate, it all took place at Phalaborwa.

When we were in the Park in January this year there were A4 printed notices outside all the toilets at Lower Sabie saying that anyone caught sleeping in the toilets would be heavily fined and banned from the Park. There was much discussion as to how they were clearly being caught doing this as gate control should by rights immediately pick up that they were over-nighting in the Park illegally. To test the system when we exited for the day at CB I handed in a permit from the day before and we were simply waved through. In fact on the days when the rain was torrential (we were there during the time the cyclone hit) the gate staff did not even search the vehicles but just waved us through. Unbelieveable when I consider that for the priviledge of sleeping on a shocking fold down sleeper couch at Talamati we had to pay almost R300,00 because we are honest and had to make use of the extra overnight accommodation.

Re the above on SPF:
Lesego wrote:We are fully aware of the incident. We are questioning the security personnel who were on duty at Phalaborwa Gate yesterday in order to understand how these people gained access to the park.
We have however made them to pay for the entry and sent them out because they displayed tendencies of people who were under the influence of liquor. We are still waiting for the full report from our rangers who are currently investigating the matter.
