Continuing now.....
Hyena's
This little mousie at Dikbaardskolk
Then it happened.......just 3 km's from Nossob there is a uphill with thick sand
and before that a bend in the road.....
I came cautiously around the bend and
uphill thick sand and car with heavy trailer don't like each other....the car started spinning on the sand so I geared down for more power but not enough power so I was stuck
...luckily Ivan saw what was happening and passed when I waved him by and kept on going so that he won't get stuck too, I radioed him to keep going to Nossob for help. Temp was 37 and my temp was 210 and my revs in the red, I could not say what I felt as Bookworm is a young lady and that would NOT be cool, so I told her to look out for Lions and other man eating things so I can try and get us out.
I got my shovel from the trailer and started digging and sweating and not having many cool thoughts, each time I went forward about 2 meters and got stuck again, after digging for 43 meters(yes I measured it
) we got out and I proceed towards Nossob
. As we stopped to open the gate the rescue tractor pulled away to come and help us(that was afer 1 hour and 45 mins)I just told them to not worry. My rating for KTP experience was at 2/10 at that time.
We booked in and went to set up camp
While cooling of with 6 beers
I almost by accident fount out that my car has a switch that reads VDC(vehicle drift control)that means when the cars starts drifting on ice or in our case sand it cuts the power to the engine so that you don't loose control.......guess why I got stuck in the sand
, needless to say I switched that thing of and we fared better in the sand   ...I still don't like sand
Some visitors in camp
