Re: Comments on Kruger management Plan 2018
Had my meet today with a full house representatives re:
Sanparks!!! A rarity,.I was personally addressed by W. Mabasa
in the death throws of the meet!! I respect his gesture!!
As per usual a well executed presentation by G. Phillips..
Once again a lot of deliberation going without them standing
responsible!!
Again a very open ended set of strategy that will suit as time
passes.
Glad to hear from him that Sanparks will no longer exploit the
region south of the Sabie river with regard too commercialization!!
The Malelane Project seems to have floundered, regarding finance
yet mention was made about further strategy,..
There's something remarkable about these meets that I attend and
God only knows why I do!! I say this because time and again all input
tendered by those IAP's, it always seems to be surrounded by a veil of
self interest only!!!
Sanparks seem to be frollicking here on this situation with reference too
private enterprise bordering the park.
All in all for the records it was worth it the travel, yet all KNP remains
subject too abrupt decision making that will suit the times!!
Hard and fast standing in approach to conservation remains a very grey
area of responsibility!!
Though I stood alone in my approach, I very much appreciate the opportunity
to have attended. Some serious raw comment was made about attendance
in the prior meetings, in the run up,..
Have a great one to those of you further down the line!!

Re: Comments on Kruger management Plan 2018
Ja, it was interesting, but same old same old, IMO. Gump and dup and Adam and Jumbo were there, a full house at the end, after the pic I ordered Gump to take!
Will dissect later , and Gump and I asked questions, although Gump forgot his second question while he had the floor, which was a bit embarassing!
I asked: (3 questions allowed)
1. WHO decided that SANparks HAD to do social upliftment and address Land Claims, as there are other departments of government that deal with these issues, and it leads to duplication?
A: We have to do it to remain relevant.
2. With budget shortfalls, why should the department pay for R250 million hotels when the money could be redirected to shortfalls and antipoaching. AW will help to pressure Dept in this regard.
A: The Skuks hotel is a once-off profit maker, but AW is welcome to pressure government in this regard.
3. One slide regarding Biodiversity was presented in the 1 hour presentation. The biggest problem and only thing that could actually destroy Kruger is the elephant overpopulation, and selective sustainability is then being carried out, as ellie culling could provide communities with their annual protein needs.
A: Various later
