Once again we lost time and space around us whilst watching all the elephants
and to our delight another small herd arrived at the edge of the riverbed on the other side of the river and soon one after the other
slipped on their knees in the sand down to the river and obviously they had a lot of fun in doing so -
and the next one.
One mom with her still very small calf used another tactic and guided very carefully her precious little one down to the river
and the joy was tremendous when all of them met again safe and sound down in the river
and after they quenched their thirst they crossed mutually the river whilst the small calf nearly had to swim.

and finally they reached the safe island in the middle of the river
and it looked as if each elephant herd meanwhile had conquered their private island as meanwhile each island was occupied.
Especially the little ones had great fun in playing in or with the sand
whilst other small ones were playing with their best buddy.
For us the time flew by far too fast and meanwhile the light was fading and the sun set already and it got darker with each minute and somehow suddenly all elephants were gone and for us it was the signal to prepare ourselves for dinner.
All these sightings were another proof that you definitely do not need to travel as many roads and as many kilometers or to race from one sighting to the other to spot animals often it is easier to just stay at one spot and let the animals come to you - mostly you even will see more.
to be continued.....

AND it's much more convenient too - especially when you have a chalet with a waterhole or a river right in front of you, aka in the camp for example.
Great start, Pumbaa! Nice variety of the birds. I like those egrets in flight. A good shot! Just as the one where they are marching with the elephant. Looks quite funny somehow.
The sliding as well as the sand-slurping ellie are very cute and entertaining.
Also like the cut throat. Pretty bird. Reminds me of the red-headed finch. The cut throats just forgot to put the rest of the colour on.
