Busy lion day

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Being watched as we take down our campsite.
We woke up on Christmas morning full of expectation for the day that lay ahead. After wishing each other Happy Christmas we were quickly out on the road, heading south for a quick morning drive before we returned to camp to pack up and move off to Polentswa
The trip around Maries was quiet. The lion pride was at Rooikop but very far away, after watching them for a while we decided to carry on with our busy day.
Packing up our trailer always takes a while as we tend to reorganise our life at the same time.
We were almost when Debbie spotted the Pearl Spotted Owlet peeking through branches, checking up on how we went about things

Well that delayed proceedings a bit

Especially when we noticed that it was not alone
There was a chick waiting to be fed as well

And a third one higher up in the tree
What are you looking at?

Awesome to see her feeding the chick

We eventually got packed up and after stocking up on wood and ice we were on our way
Travel days, for us are generally quiet days, and today is no exception, and before we knew it we were sitting at a quiet Polentswa waterhole

We were allocated campsite no 3, which we usually really enjoy. This year, however, the trees in the campsite appeared to have died.
Not great news in mid December, when you really need some shade in the middle of the day

We took a slow drive down to the waterhole, which was still void of any wildlife before driving back to camp

Another stunning sunset, at the end of a rather uneventful day

Not sure, they were in the trees on the eastern edge of the camp near the non electrified campsites. I don't think that they are indigenous
