Sunday 15th April 2018

Saturday had not been a good day, so we woke early end headed for the gate. A Kudu in out front garden at Marloth.

After the long dusty S25 drive the day before we agreed to rather spend the morning on the tar, so took the H4-2 / H4-1 up to Skukuza.

The Lions from the day before had made a kill but it was nowhere near the road, so all we could see were vultures in the sky O/

The drive to Skukuza might as well have been outside the park, not an animal in sight. So we had brunch at Skukuza and discussed our options from there -O-

The agreement was to try the S114 to S112 and down to Renosterkoppies

The only interesting thing on the drive was two Giraffe fighting

We continued down the S114 to the Malelane gate, and eventually got our first Leopard sighting of the weekend. The leopard was walking along the Croc river in the direction of Malelane gate, it was a great sighting, far better than the photos suggest (we were a bit slow with the camera).

After about 300 meters the Leopard turned down towards the river.

We had to drive back to Johannesburg, so just too a short drive into the park, where we spotted a Jackal keeping warm in the morning sun.

Saturday 1st September 2018

We booked in Marloth for the trip and as the previous house was unavailable, we booked a place called “Hakuna Matata”. 3 bedrooms, 2 downstairs for the girls and Kelly and a great en suite upstairs. The upstairs balcony with a built-in braai made the evenings great fun.

We arrived late on the Friday evening and only had two full days in the park, so got an early evening.

Before we start a few house photos, I should become a sales agent for Marloth Park lol

Now to start the TRIP REPORT

The first drive was up the H4-2 / H12 / H1-2 loop to Skukuza, we would also take the Dukes waterhole loop just before Lower Sabie (S137 / S28)

A red neck Hyena spotted on the H4-2 :-0
