Nyawutsi hide is one of my favourites , with a great setting , a big pool of water , trees , -- we once watched a herd of ellies having a really noisy bath in it .

It is also quite far from camps etc , and therefore one can often sit there for hours on end , without being disturbed by other visitors . And because not many people visit it , the seats are quite often full of bat droppings and so on :O^
It was therefore one of those times , when we must have been the first humans there within the previous few weeks or so . As usual we took some cloths with us to wipe the seats , and were busy wiping these clean , with SO moaning and grumbling about unmannered bats , and the having place being invaded by all sorts of varmints , and me just trying to calm her down, saying : yeahhh , yeahhh , don't worry , just get on with it , when suddenly she gave a load shriekkkkk !!! , and ran out , shouting " there's a snake in the roof !! " .
I followed her very quickly , and ever since then , before entering that hide ( and others ) carefully check out the underside of the roof , just in case that mamba is still there O-/

RP, your night at Orpen definitely sounds like a wild night. lol

okie, I'm paranoid about snakes in hides and always check the roof before entering O-/ , although checking the roof doesn't mean there isn't a snake lurking somewhere. 0:

I have a freaky story for you... (Never seen anything like this again)
Once while in the Kruger, we were in Satara, taking the tar road up to Olifants, when SO suggested we take the sand road.... -O-
Once we turned off the road, we came across 4 Rhino running next to the road at full speed O/\ ... Further down the road, we noticed a huge heard of buff, that seemed very agitated! 0*\
In the middle of the heard, were four young male Lions, who were after the smaller buff, but the trailblazers were pushing them back. ..0.. In the end, they were pushed into the small river! Past the buff, was a monster of an Ellie, slowly walking his way down towards the buff! 0:

So four of the big five in one sighting... We decided to head back to the S100, where we came across the resident leopard, and he was mating with the Female!!! O/\ O/\ O/\ What a day, and all before 8:30am!!!

A day to remember even more so, because we were the only car in both the sightings!!! And to top it off, saw Serval and Honey badger that day!!! O\/ O\/
