Then they decided that the parking lot was nicer and crossed right in front of our car.
Unfortunately it was late now and we had to return to camp.

as a perfect end to a great day we had a wonderful sunset.
While we were enjoying our nightcap, we heard a lion roaring very close by. Although he seemed to be right on the other side of the fence, we could not spot it. We watched many people move into the hide and decided to follow them. The hide was crowded but no lion to be seen. After 20 minutes most gave up as did we. On our return to the chalet we heard the lion again but we were still not able to see it.
The next morning we found the tracks actually right ont the other side of the fence and after our return back home we saw a picture posted from the webcam ...we should have stayed a little bit longer
That night it was very hot in the chahet 28 –32 degrees and we did not sleep well again.

11.10.2013 - continued
We made a stop at the Dikbaardskolk picnic site and were joined by the sociable weavers
while the yellow mongoose stayed rather shy in the background
right next to the picnic site there was a juvenile black-chested snake eagle in a tree
joined by a lanner falcon.
