Just read on FB that people are stranded at Biyamiti as the bridge has been washed away! Apparently a temporary bridge is going to be built. -O-

There was a serious downpour in this area from about midnight until 07h00, so expect more raod closures in the area.

Flutterby I cannot recall a bridge on the H2-2 which was the only access road to Biyamiti on Saturday. All other bridges were damaged around 11 March (S25 Biyamiti river, S25 Mhlambane and S114 weir).

Last time we visited the park when Biyamiti was nearly closed off due to flooding, we could still use S25, but not the weir or Mhlambane crossing on S114 near S118/S119 intersection. My guess this crossing was also closed and you could only reached Biyamiti via H2-2.

BJ, I'm not sure which bridge was damaged but apparently there was no access from any road yesterday. Will see if there's any change today. \O

Hi Flutterby,

They are still stuck and cannot get out. Looks like the problem is on the S139, therefore even if you can exit from S114, they cannot reach those roads.. By the look of the pic below this crossing can be fix using a bit of human resources and spades. Not sure why the trucks are just standing on the other side.
