The last stretch along the tar road shortly before the camp was once again a brilliant stop for general game and so we met a mother zebra with her gorgeous little one

Image

and for sure it was also time to capture the ever present impalas whilst feeding.

Image

It was such a wonderful sunny and long day on the road with lots of amazing sightings and so we decided to not leave again for any late afternoon drive

Image

but to start our braai as well and because tomorrow would again be moving day we simply admired the view from our verandah

Image

with something to eat and drink.

Tuesday, 13. February 2018 – Crocodile Bridge - Biyamiti

Explored roads: H4-2 – S28 – S137 – H4-2 – H4-1 – S21 – S114 – S23 – S114 – S139 – S25

Today was moving day again and although we were sad to leave Crocodile Bridge we were already looking forward to Biyamiti and on top we were not leaving completely our beloved area around the S28 already and so a couple of drives on that road were still granted.

Gladly today we could finally capture a helmeted guinea fowl chicks who were running excitedly around between the legs of the adult birds and normally same will dash out of sight completely

Image

before you can get a decent shot but today we were lucky in capturing the cute striped fluff balls.

Image

Needless to say that we chose again the S28 and same once again proved to be one of the best birding roads this year – Today we again stopped right in the beginning for another black shouldered kite and now even with a kill

Image

in form of a rodent and we really felt a bit sorry for same but the beautiful raptor need food as well.

Image

How wonderful it was that we this year even got to see a great number of this raptor in the entire park as normally this bird only occurs sporadically for us.

We stayed with same until even the last piece of the rodent had been swallowed and the kite finally flew away.

Image

The sun just came up and the light was simply beautiful and so we stopped for a hungry impala ram,

Image

one of the many unidentified brown raptors

Image

followed by another one which I think is a Wahlberg.

Image

Then another highlight birdingwise followed – a black coucal – a bird which we do only saw I guess twice so far during our Kruger trips

Image

and it were even two of them!

Image

Gladly these birds were cooperative and allowed us to take shot after shot

Image

without flying away.

Image

A shy duiker luckily stopped long enough for us to allow a couple of shots

Image

and the mom was even willing to show us her little one who was lying in the grass close to her

Image

and to our delight we even came across a burchell’s coucal as well.

Image

to be continued.....

Black Coucal! ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

Your large group of Giraffes contains only one animal? :-?

...and that steak looks a little rare for my liking

I do wish we could be in the park at the same time Pumbaa. We could both stop to photograph the same Impalas and enjoy causing a massive roadblock of confused passers-by! =O: =O:
The Pied Kingfisher is a favourite bird of mine so thank you for putting one in and making me smile. :ty:
