It seems pre-booking when staying outside the park is the way to go
The lion locals upon entry and then some great hyena pics
African Skimmer

, I have been watching sightings of this chap on LS

We are indeed Romans RP... but there wasn't enough blood
A very hot and full lion Lis. Must be his own fault for eating so much

So lucky to see the skimmer!

And nice pics of the stork.

Lions again.
We had heard of the odd sighting of the skimmer so were on the lookout, but it was a real surprise to actually see it

Pre-bookings are definitely essential at the Croc Bridge gate. I think at Malelane they lump everyone together so there's no real order to the process

Great Marloth sightings
Normally the purple crested turacos are hard to catch. They are mostly moving around in the bushes very speedily. I have got my only pics of a couple at Marloth

Pretty bird

Excellent relaxing afternoon, Peej!
The river proximity makes all the difference at Marloth in winter, the rest of the municipality is pretty dessicated...
Did you manage to have some tea on the stoep?

Tea on the deck! Slightly dangerous descent later
