Those pics were taken in May, and there was definitely excess water that time of year due to the rains. I believe we were staying at Mata Mata, and I know there were puddles in the roads/bush areas in camp where I try to find insects. Also, I very often pour water in the ground where I am sitting and just wait for it to attract insects - quite effective.Is that cheating

Oh yes, almost forgot, the gentleman from the museum said the "Anthomyiidae" is actually a Muscidae member, and will pass it on to see if anything further can be known from just a pic...


So the calliphorid became temporarily an anthomyiid and is now in transition to a muscid
