Can you remember where exactly you found the
Lispe, sould be close to a waterhole or to some water in camp?
Those pics were taken in May, and there was definitely excess water that time of year due to the rains. I believe we were staying at Mata Mata, and I know there were puddles in the roads/bush areas in camp where I try to find insects. Also, I very often pour water in the ground where I am sitting and just wait for it to attract insects - quite effective.

Is that cheating
IF you agree, we make it a
Lispe cf. zumpti
Oh yes, almost forgot, the gentleman from the museum said the "Anthomyiidae" is actually a Muscidae member, and will pass it on to see if anything further can be known from just a pic...
So Lispe zumpti is it.

We can be proud of ourselves
So the calliphorid became temporarily an anthomyiid and is now in transition to a muscid

Klippies: "We can be proud of ourselves."

WE can be extraordinarily proud of YOU.

I contributed nothing to the ID - had never heard of
Lispe. I continue to learn so much from you and are grateful you are here.
Will write it up tomorrow.
Yes, our unidentified fly has undergone various incarnations, even from the experts, which just goes to underscore your value here.

Large beetle walking very slowly in the road at Marloth...about 3cm?
Definitely a "true" toktokkie in the tribe Sepidiini. Might be a
Psammodes, but it may also be an
Ocnodes (previously known as
Phanerotomea). Both genera are enormous, very difficult, and completely lacking in a recent taxonomic revision.
But - to make you happy
![Love [Luv]](./images/smilies/icon_cuinlove.gif)
- I will likely burn my fingers and say it's an
Ocnodes, ID to species level is only for those few people who specialise in the Sepidiini. I hope there will be soon some experts interested in figuring out the intricacies and confusions of the Southern African Sepidiini and then you can ask an expert.

Troglodyte!
A trap-jaw ant. They have a catapult-like mechanism to operate the large mandibles - very cool predators
