I was so excited to see this bird in my garden yesterday....

A lifer.
Oh! has he turned his back on us....tch,tch.. come now, don't play games with us...
turn around, just a little... please, only to see your beak...
there, you see, it was not so difficult. Turn a little more now... slowly...
cheeky little buggar... then he flies down and poses for a full frontal

What an absolute stunning pretty bird -
I honestly thought I would have to return to our eastern shores to see one of these Thick-billed Weavers until I read my bird book yesterday. They are quite common in Gauteng.
