We also drove this road to camp a few years ago and also found the bush very dense and every now and again you find yourself in between a herd of elephants

Next trip to the bush??

Let me think......................

At the look out point we for sure left the car to stretch the legs and to look a bit around and we even had luck as a white bellied sunbird arrived and sat still enough for a couple of shots

Image

and so did one of the many grey louries we saw there

Image

as well as a red billed hornbill who were feeding on some berries.

Image

We enjoyed the view and the light breeze which was blowing on such a hot day – We spotted a grey heron in the distance, two waterbuck ladies were resting in the shade,

Image

the view is always anyway breath taking

Image

and after a while a large group of impalas arrived to quench their thirst in one of the many puddles.

Image

We arrived right in time to check in and this year we were accommodated in No. 3 – Soon everything was packed away and the bird bath filled and so our verandah was our place for the next hour but somehow it was obviously still too hot and not so many birdies were willing to arrive. at least a black headed oriole arrived

Image

and a thirsty squirrel.

Image

Due to the heat and nearly the whole time on the road that day we simply were in the mood for only a short afternoon drive and so we left camp quite late and only wanted to drive to the causeway across the Biyamiti on the S25. The sun illuminated already everything in the best colours

Image

and we spotted white backed vultures,

Image

a pair of bateleurs

and a cute and nicely posing black shouldered kite in a tree.

Image

Image

A group of male waterbucks was on their way to the river and allowed us a couple of shots

Image

as they simply posed so nicely for us

Image

and then it was already time for us to return back to camp but we allowed us enough time and stopped for the awesome sunset,

Image

one of the many beautiful trees in the riverbed

Image

and for one of the bateleurs who still was sitting in the same tree.

Image

With another more and amazing braai the day ended and we enjoyed so much the night sound of the bush in one hand and the silence on the other hand.

Tuesday, 12. February 2019 – Biyamiti

Our roads we explored that day: S139 – S25 – S27 – H4-2 – S28 – S137 – H4-2 – S82 – S130 – H5 – S108 – S25 – S139 – S25

Although it did not cool down properly that night we could sleep very well and so we were full of thirst for action and so we decided to drive already for the very last time during that holiday our beloved S28 and pay a final visit to Sunset dam.

Obviously the bateleur couple from last evening was still around

Image

also the giraffes were already busy with their breakfast

Image

Image

and so was an impressive kudu.

Image

to be continued…….

O/\

A birdie evening and a mammal morning, with stunning scenery inbetween, Pumbaa!

Interesting you say you slept well despite there being no aircon? :-? \O

The sunbirds are difficult to photograph, for some reason, so my favourite! [O]
