I have fallen off the radar again as the NZ family have arrived. We are off to KTP on Tuesday hopefully to collect more travel tales ..I will hopefully have something to share in May when the family have left.

Thanks all for your well wishes ...our trip to the KTP has come and gone .....and sadly so have my daughter and family.
Life has now got back to normal ( whatever normal is ) and I am beginning to sift through photos. In general sightings were a bit slow but it was a wonderful experience for my both my grandchildren as they have no prior experience of the Kgalagadi. We also had a few mishaps ....but we just had to get over them and enjoy being the park.

Sam celebrated his 8th birthday the day before left. He was a very excited little boy with a Wishlist a mile long ( birthday list as well sightings list )
Lily is 5...she had a Wishlist as well...but hers was toned down a bit.

It's funny how things pan out...
Amongst other things Sam wanted to see a Honey Badger. I explained to him that Honey Badgers are actually quite scarce and we always consider ourselves extremely lucky when we come across one. I also went on to tell him that we hadn't seen one for a very long time...
Sometimes I should just "shut up" ...... as I should know by now that the Kgalagadi likes to prove you wrong.

We arrived in the Kgalagadi on the 12th April ....on the 13th we had our first Honey Badger sighting at 16h40 . It was a great sighting of a very busy Honey Badger sniffing around bushes ...investigating under logs ... and half disappearing down holes until it finally disappeared over the dune. Great excitement
By the end of our stay we had seen 6 different Honey Badgers. The highlight of all the sightings was Mom Badger carrying Baby Badger. I mean just when do you see 6 Honey badgers in 8 days ???? Sam was a very happy little camper indeed .....we all were . :) I am so pleased the Kgalagadi proved me wrong. :) Herewith a selection of our sightings....

It is difficult to believe you, but if you say 6 honey badgers, it must be true Sam must have special wizard abilities. I hope that he will still believe what you say...from time to time
