Plenty food for predators there in the central district!

Yes or we simply do watch them - We will never get tired of that

Totally right Luckily that jacan was extreme closed and stayed there the whole time we stood there with our car

After we found a path between them we also had to stop for more zebras as also so many of them simply posed too nicely





and seeing them between the many flowers was amazing



and we also fell in love with this impala shot.



At one of the many causeways along the S41 into Northern direction we spotted a green backed heron quite camouflaged on the first view



but once again for us extreme close.



Whilst looking into the other direction of the causeway we saw a bit far away a group of hippos and whilst we continued our drive we again stopped for Carmine bee eaters



with a couple of juveniles between them.





On top we were so happy that also this gravel road was open as this is also always one of our must drives whenever in that area. A bit hidden we captured a tchagra with kill



and meanwhile along the S90 we noticed a Kori bustard in the high grass – This road is also always a nearly guaranteed spot to look out for these birds.



To our delight an amour falcon landed right in front of our car once again we were for a long time the only travelers on that road so had endless time in photographing this incredible raptor.



After a while same started to collect something from the road and we originally thought the falcon was collecting some sort of insects



but it were small stones which had most of the time spat out by the falcon



but sometimes it also looked as if same was swallowing the stones. Nevertheless we had a great time in watching same until suddenly same took off.

We carried on and due to the few or better to say no cars we could stop for each bird who came across and we found a village indigobird,



many European rollers and another kori bustard who was not easy to spot in the high grass.



A lilac breasted roller took an extensive sand bath in front of our car



another village indigobird simply posed so nice for us



and so did this grey shrike.



Soon we were back at Satara where we only stopped shortly only to leave again into the direction of Girivana as it was still a bit too early to spend the rest of the day in camp until our afternoon drive. At Nsemani which was full as we never saw the dam before we noticed many hippos



and on a dead tree a pair of knob-bill ducks.



The S12 is a hilly road and at the most awkward position and only from one spot to be seen we got a glimpse of wild dogs sleeping in the high grass, however, due to the time of the day and heat we decided to try again our luck in the afternoon at that spot and carried on and for sure the zebras we found next where most willing to pose.





The H7 was during our stay in that area an elephant alley as we found many herds there as well as huge bulls this time we photographed the smaller ones





as well as larger ones.

Another fantastic array of beautifully photographed birds Too many to list them all, but the Amour falcon is a first for me. LOVE the LBR sand bathing , the zebra with the punky hairdo is , and the affectionate impalas are so special Great job, as per your usual.

The roller spreading its wings is fantastic, also the interesting Amur activity!

I think the tchagra caught a little sun spider.
