Also the bulls had great fun in the water
or had an extensive morning drink
and besides the elephants also a couple of waterbucks were around as well
but kept away from the elephant who were now busy in drifting on the dam wall away from the dam
besides this displeased elephant bull as he obviously was the opinion he had missed most of the fun.
After a great time at the dam we returned back to Skukuza camp along the H1-1 but also along that road it was quiet besides a group of ground hornbills which was indeed a seldom bird specie we saw this year due to the dryness as in wet summers we see this bird far more often
We only stopped in camp for a short body break and to fill up the car and drove along the H4-1 along the Sabie and in one of the many trees close to the water Timon noted a Wahlberg eagle with a kill.
The Wahlberg was in fact not easy to detect and far more difficult to photograph as the treetop was extreme thick or a branch was hidding the raptor. Definitely an interesting sighting, however, I felt extreme sorry for this young mongoose.
After a while the Wahlberg took off together with its lunch and landed in a tree on the other side of the Sabie and so out of sight for us at least a bit further down the road we discovered a woodpecker in a dead tree,
however, we carried on and only found a couple of kudus such as this younger bull
as well as a couple of females
