Did I understand right, that you said that you would keep the North for a trip with your "lovely"?

I'm with PRWIN, camp at Shingwedzi and enjoy the quietness and drive slowly on the river road, sit at a lookout next to the river and just chill. Punda Maria is also a nice camp and you can drop in at Crooks Corner and just sit there and relax :-0 Oooooh now I'm jealous 0: :-0

Hey, seiont! Waterhole-sitting is nullified at that time of year....the bush is full of water, and for that matter you may get rain on your campsite!

As exchange rates go, I would suggest bungalows, with aircon, at Shingwedzi and Punda, with a starter at Mopani taking a flight into Phalaborwa!

Not the best time to visit the North! But still, the north is magic, and will be quiet! With massive amount of seasonal and rare birds! O\/ O\/ O\/

0/* Thanks for suggestions. It is great to hear others thoughts and ideas. I tend to be cautious and stick to what I know so maybe venturing north is the best option. Lis I do like to share new experiences with my lovely and was planning my first trip north with her but maybe I should check it out myself first. ;-) Besides she doesn’t get Kruger like me, she certainly enjoys visiting but isn’t so obsessive or needy. She willing allows me the opportunity to travel solo and I appreciate that. I booked my flight today and am checking out my camping gear by sleeping out in the garden – lovely is also very patient!

It has to be camping Rich. It saves a little money and yes, while it gets very hot, it gives experiences that staying in a hut just can’t provide.

Crawling out of my tent in Satara.

Any more suggestions? I'd love to hear them. Thks. ^Q^

Sorry Seiont, but I am not the camping type or rather my "lovely" certainly is not and it is difficult to bring everything from Europe.

Seiont,

If you want peace and quiet (especially in December), then the north is the only place you'll find it. ;-)

The North \O
Punda has a great camping site , with swimming pool ( full of frogs ) , has a hide with waterhole right next to the fence where you can spend days away , is within 40 kilometres of Pafuri - birds and bees and flowers and trees -- O/\
Shingwedzi is another with great camping site , and afternoon drives down the Shingwedzi river is pure magic . And also good starting point up to Babalala all along the Mphongolo river as well as down to Red Rocks . And the restaurant is probably the best placed in all of Kruger , on the wide verandah under the huge shade trees right next to , and overlooking the river .

IMO , the two best camps in Kruger O\/
