I think no 1 is Nhlowa, no 2 is not known to me. Don't know if you have more pics of no 1 ?
Great thanks Aat! \O

I found some video of the ellies and got some screenshots, so not great pics.

No. 1 - Nhlowa?

No 2. - these two ellies were together and it actually looked like this one had the bigger tusks.

We saw these ellies at Ngotso Dam on 14.08.2013. The ellie on the right had very nice tusks. He has a noticeable notch in his right ear.

We saw these ellies on 27.09.2012 at Ngotso south. Just about all of them had nice tusks.

This one in particular had huge tusks but would not turn around.

These two also had nice tusks.

Flutterby,
Yes, I can confirm it is Dungile (ear mark and trunk and tusks)

In general , the trunk with all the lines , muscles are like a footprint too for ID , I always use the combination tusks, ears and trunk in case of doubt or to get 100%

Any chance this is Dungile?

The other pictures I can't help with those, the one with big tusks but turned away I can't ID and many others I think cannot be qualified as tusker

Hi All,

Per today I was able to read posts about what happened somewhere else and what has been said about me and my tusker site.

I just like to reply on this and make clear what my intensions were and are.

My goals with the big tuskers including my website are:
- Putting these gentle giants in the spotlights (they are rare and special)
- Make promotion for them to mobilize many people to pay attention when they go to kruger,Tembe EP,Addo EP or Kenya etc (So not just kruger), that's why my website refers to Tusker of Africa.
- Building up history about them (recent to old as possible photo's , arranged by date per tusker

How? By asking people to send photos to me and giving permission to post them at my site.
I always put the name with copyright mark on the photo. The photographer will always be the Owner of the photo. If she or he wants me to delete a picture , just ask and I remove the picture.

Service? This includes ID'ing tuskers, which can take a few seconds up to hours or longer.

I don't and did not steal pictures of any other site including SP. They accused me, about 3 years ago, for this without any proof and finally SP sent me email with their OK ! (So knowledge about my site has been known by SP for a long time)
All these years up till now there was no warning , message from SP about what I was doing.

Also 3 years ago I offered a working together to SP which was not accepted. By a first positive reaction by the Communication Mgr a working together was not accepted by others.

The blocking of the Big Tusker thread was done by SP , without ANY communication (they have the rights to do it but was not really respectfull) As I said , all these years after the OK by SP I did not get any message of concern, no warning.

I did not misguide or mislead anybody with working together with SP. In the first few years and after I met K Redman in Letaba she was OK with working together. I still have some email communication about this about exchanging photo's of Tuskers. So only in that time I could have said this because it was true.

Two very respected people in South Africa, Johan Marais and Dr I Whyte have supported me with permission to use their photos, Johan sent some beautiful ones of Kenya and Dr I Whyte a picture of Metsi-Metsi from his private collection and in a few occasions a helping hand with ID'ing. (in the first year of devellopping my site)

I am and was using my site to have a good overview of the tuskers which is and was not possible at SP forum. My site is without any commercial purpose , no ads etc.... just born and used as a tool to display.

I hope I answerred questions and clarified misunderstandings and replied to some lies I detected.

I feel happy with Africa Wild and hope we all benefit from the possibilities here.

Regards
Aat

Thanks for that extra info and context Aat.

I don't think for one moment any person on this forum or indeed the other or anywhere else, thought that your work was anything other than the altruistic intention to bring together information on these magnificent animals for the benefit of all and that you acted in good faith always.

So let's celebrate your ongoing work which will be supported even more strongly than ever! ^Q^
