Also here we allowed us a couple of minutes before we carried on
only to be again held up by more lions.
We could maneuver ourselves safety though all the cars and lions and as it was meanwhile 18.27 o’clock still a couple of cars drove into our direction so we had this impressive male all to ourselves.
Same stopped from time to time, looked into the veld and carried on his walk only to stop again.
More than happy with all the sightings we had that day we finally returned to camp and whilst I already enjoyed my vine on our verandah Timon decided to run a bit in camp. Later he told me that the gate was still open around 19.00 o’clock obviously there was a very socially minded guard at the gate who allowed the people to watch the lions a bit longer.
Sunday, 19. February 2023 – Satara
Explored roads: H1-4 – S90 – S41 – H6 – H7 – S12 – S40 – H7 – H1-4 – H7 – S12 – S40 – H7 – H1-4
After our obligatory coffee on our verandah we packed everything together and today we turned left but today no lions were hanging around and overall it was nearly dead quiet all along the tar road besides a black backed jackal we unfortunately only could capture from the back.
At least the marabou storks who came across next were willing to pose
we already turned into the S90 and it was still a bit misty and the high grass was extreme wet as if it rained again over night but luckily the sun already started to set
which made such a wonderful light onto this giraffe shot.
Obviously the animals still were fast asleep on that Sunday morning as also along the S90 it was very quiet or simply the grass was far too high. We came across another kori bustard or it was the same we already met the day before,
a burchell’s coucal who was a bit hidden but these two lilac breasted rollers could be easily photographed.
We met no other cars so had the road all to ourselves and at one of our beloved causeways Timon soon discovered a malachite kingfisher
