Herds of hartebeest and kudu were appearing from nowhere. The light on this chap gave a nice contrast

Image

The rest of the Gorah loop was quiet so we took a trip back to see Valli. Along the way we came across a black shouldered kite hanging out with a fiscal flycatcher :-?

Image

Valli was in pretty much the same spot we had left him. An egret was waiting patiently for him to disturb some grubs X#X

Image

While we were watching him he began to move, so we second-guessed his route and sat further along the road waiting for him. He didn't disappoint... coming closer and closer until he was too close to photograph and came right past to our car O/\ O/\

Forgot to mention that these are quite nice pics for showing an elephant in musth - the temporal gland secretion and leaking urine \O

Very very very close Flutts. I wouldn't have done that with Paul, but Valli is a very relaxed chap :-)

Unfortunately there weren't any cats showing up, but we were treated to some amazing colours as the sun started sinking below the horizon

This time of the year the gates close at 6pm and with the sun setting at about 5:15pm there's plenty of opportunity to catch some of the more nocturnal creatures. As we started heading back to camp we were lucky to find a spotted eagle owl O/\ O/\
