Re: African Wild Dog
Interesting all round!
I doubt they will get far with the tortoise..the adult tells them not to be stupid!
Weren't the new pack meant to go to Punda, Robert?

Re: African Wild Dog
Their enclosure where they were kept to acclimatise and form a pack was just outside Shingwedzi.
The EWT guys was also working out of Shingwedzi so I don't think they were meant for Punda.

Re: African Wild Dog
There was a post somewhere about dogs between Shingwedzi and Punda from about 2 weeks ago. It wasn't the relocated pack as they didn't have collars. I suspected it was this other pack with 13 youngsters that is now collared.

Endangered Wildlife Trust with SANParks-kruger National Park.

The pack of Wild Dogs introduced into northern Kruger National Park have moved east into Mozambique after a pack of 19 dogs, including 13 pups, moved into the area around Shingwedzi camp. The Endangered Wildlife Trust, in collaboration with SANParks and the State Vets, darted individuals from the pack in order to fit a GPS satellite collar onto one of the adults and vaccinate targeted individuals against canine distemper and rabies. The GPS collar data will allow us to compare the movements of the introduced pack and the only other resident pack north of Mopani in Kruger National Park.
Apparently the pack of 19 is the Mopani pack.

Re: African Wild Dog
Ja, from the feeding point of view they're definitely not my favourite animal

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.
