The entire pride then started moving further off into the bush and we thought that might be all we would see of them, but it turned out that they were aiming for a large rock in the background... one by one they made their way onto the rock to enjoy the warmth from the morning sun O\/ O\/

Not surprisingly it became known as 'Pride Rock' for the rest of the trip lol

It had been a really nice lion sighting and all to ourselves. We figured we would leave them in peace and head back to the farm before another afternoon drive \O

What a magnificent scene, Peej! :-0 :-0

And 10 lions, must be about all the ones in the park? lol

You take some funny pics, earlier a springbok with horn in the neck and now a lion with two mouths! lol

It's not me - it's the animals... they've gone a bit strange during lockdown =O: =O:

We saw 15 lion together in MZ in December... at that stage there were over 20 in the park but I heard some were moved out. I think they still have about 18 in total \O

Very considerate of the lions to move onto the rock ;-) It made a mediocre lion sighting to a great sighting both in quantity and quality O\/ O\/

Seeing as the previous evening had been so productive along Ubejane loop, we planned to do it again at the end of our afternoon drive. But first we aimed to head up the Juriesdam 4x4 trail to see what else we could find. I don't think any maintenance has been done on any of the trails for quite some time so the first long uphill section was a challenge, but we made it up!

At the top we found ground squirrel, zebra, black wildebeest & ostrich waiting for us O:V

Dropping back down from the plateau we spotted a couple of very well camouflaged bat-eared foxes O\/ O\/

We also saw a steenbok, but it ran away before we had time to take any pics 0:

Back out onto the main road we had more luck with another aardwolf sighting O/\ O/\

The sighting became quite an interesting interaction with the arrival of a gemsbok. The aardwolf ducked down completely out of sight as the gemsbok walked just a few metres past it O:V

With the evening good fortune starting already we turned into Ubejane with anticipation of more fun when H stopped us to check on something she had seen.... -O-
