To the extreme West of the Park, lies a dam tucked away at the foot of the mountains and surrounded by a lining of trees.
You are likely to have less visitors here than any other dam in Pilansberg.

Sit quietly and you may be rewarded with some great birding at Ruighoek! The top one for me is Old Spoonster!

The sour grass region in the West near Ruighoek is ideal for the rare antelope! Red Hartees are always in the region

There are about 9 dams that have water all year round!
It is only about 20km North to South, and about 20km East to West. Plenty of roads though!

It’s fairly small, but as you say plenty of roads

I think a short trip of around 3 days would be the way to go -O-

Yes indeed :-) I would recommend up to 5 days.
Don't drive around as much as you would in Kruger. This topic is all about how Pilansberg lends itself towards sitting in hides. The kids would not get in as many squabbles =O:

BC....there is a LOT of water in the Pilanesberg. ;-) I must say, 5 days would be too much for me....I think 2 or 3 would be more than enough. -O-
