Marloth break in July

Heading up towards Skukuza we found a young ellie


A plover


A nayala bull


and his ladies


We stopped in a Skukuza city for a quick break before carrying on down towards Biyamiti .
We were signalled by a couple in a polo do you have binoculars yes we said . Check over in that shade there is a Leopard and after allot of looking and checking it finally moved and there was a leopard in the shadow




After watching for 5 minutes we had caused a major traffic jam the Leopard decided it was not happy with the attention and moved off as did we .


We carried on towards Biyamiti

I like the nyalas, and the birdies at the bird bath!

On the way to Biyamiti a Klippie on its rock


At Biyamiti we found an interesting bird I think it was looking for insects not sure of the ID


Could not get a clear view of it


We then noticed a Fish eagle eating something in a tree above us




But as we moved around to see what it was eating it flew off luckily it only went to the Weir to drink




Some Geese were bathing





After leaving the Weir we met this fellow on the road



We went back to Marloth for the evening .

was very interesting watching the shrike .

The following morning we were heading home but as we had time to spare going through Swaziland we of course went back to the Kruger .The sunrise was stunning as always .


We had decided to go up the H4 and to the S130 as there was lions on the S28 and a huge traffic jam that I had no intention getting into .We were first onto the S130 loop .


We came around a bend and there was two huge Male Lions sleeping next to the road . They were surprised by us and we by them . The one got up and tried to encourage the other one to move but he was not in the mood to get out of bed yet .










The second Lion moved off and lay down further away from us


We spent quite a while with them and more and more vehicles arrived including OSV's so we eventually moved on .Our final trip had been made special as we had not had a good male lion sighting for a while .
