Re: A Short, unexpected KNP visit

Saturday March 2nd. Morning drive.
Today started early, I was up and about at 03:45 and having coffee & reading my book when a great noise erupted from the adjoining unit. Our neighbours had arrived from whichever hole they'd crawled out of and proceeded to converse with each other at the top of their voices. When I asked them to keep the noise down, the response was "EH?" and absolutely no difference in the volume. I went back to my coffee and book but couldn't concentrate enough to read anything.
I was ANGRY with a capital F.
I complained to the security guards as we left at around 05:00 and they told us that they'd had also asked them to be quiet but they had ignored their requests too.
Leaving the noise behind but vowing to do something about it when we returned, we headed off to Phabeni Gate and arrived there just after it opened.
On the way we caught the sunrise over Hazyview town.
We took the S3 along the Sabie River and saw very little. There were a few Golden Orb-Web Spiders and this one was just in the right place for a picture.
This LBJ seemed to have itches everywhere.
Cunningly disguised as a pebble, a tiny Terrapin in a roadside donga.
The bush was really dense and I found myself getting more and more desperate to see something. When I started spotting flowers I knew I was in trouble so I sped up a bit and headed for Lake Panic.
We detoured via the Kruger Gate for a much needed "comfort" break and on the door of the gent's toilet was this strange insect which I haven't been able to identify. I'm not even sure what type of insect it is - moth, damselfly, butterfly, robber fly???????
A grasshopper on a nearby bush also caught my eye.
Lake Panic was very quiet, the Grey Heron Chicks that were there in November had all moved on and so had most of the weavers. There were a couple of Thickbilled Weavers too far away for pictures and a Guineafowl Butterfly on a lily pad.
We returned to Hazyview Cabanas just before 11:00 and I marched into reception where I related the earlier events and asked that they either move them or move us! They moved us to a palatial unit which had a partial river view which was far nicer than the unit we were originally in.
So I'd like to say a big thank you to the uncouth, selfish, bad mannered, ignorant, inconsiderate, rude, drunken imbeciles for getting us much nicer accommodation and making our stay much more pleasant by being far enough away from you that we could only hear the occasional shriek. So There!
Some pictures of our upgraded accommodation taken by the SO :-
And the FREE breakfast was very nice but the payment extracted was that we had to sit through a presentation by a representative of the "Holiday Club". It does sound like a better deal than RCI - the annual levies on our timeshare cost a small fortune! Any good/bad Holiday Club experiences out there?
Our drive in the afternoon started at Phabeni Gate and I took this picture shortly after. It's foliage but with a difference, Unlike other pictures of foliage you may have seen on this forum, this foliage is hiding something.
Exactly what is hidden will be revealed in the next posting. (Hint: it's not a Red-Headed Weaver).
