The wild papaya, Carica quercifoglia is native to tropical Africa, Lis
You can search under "vasconcellea", too - it is another name for the genus

Are the flowers in the flowerhead yellow or pink/red?
And where did you find it?
It is one of the grassland Sugarbushes, P. caffra caffra , P. caffra gazensis, P. simpley or similar

Not sure of the colour of the flowerheads. It was in the Drakensberg.
Here's another one, although this looks slightly different or am I imagining that? :?

Does this look the same as my first one - it's a P. caffra caffra?
And does this look like my second one - it's a P. caffras gazensis?

With fynbos thingies, it's the best to look at the distribution, most species have their special ranges
The two common species of sugarbushes in the Drakensberg are P. caffra caffra and P. roupelliae. You find them in the river valleys in "communities" of Protea Savanna. P. caffra is more common in the north and P. roupelliae in the south.
Four other species occur in the berg:
P. subvestita
P. dracomontana
P. simplex
P. nubigena
:D :D :D :D :D So I am convinced now, it is a P. caffra caffra
