Many years ago (2006) I was what I call the S28 area and found a nice and good looking bull, not a tusker yet, but maybe promising ? Well, I decided to name him Nhlowa and see what happens.
Then I saw him again in 2009 (March), again early November 2011 and still promising and bit by bit devellopping.
Skipping some years without seeing him and then, our last day in kruger this year, it's May 9th and like always on our last day we were driving the S28.
Mud... so nice to protect yourselves... people paying lots of money at spa's , tuskers have it foor free
Think we can say he deserves his name and title emerging tusker

Clean right ear. The left tusk is broken. The right tusk is long and curved.

Characteristics
V-shaped notch in left ear with a small hole just above this notch. Small notch in the right ear (centre). The left tusk is a bit longer and more straight then right tusk.
Range
Between Crocodile Bridge, Afsaal and Tshokwane.

This bull was named by SANParks for the Emerging Tuskers competition.
Characteristics
Very thick tusks, widely splayed. 2 small v-shaped notches in his right ear. Left tusk longer and less curved then right tusk. Two small notches in left ear. Swelling on the left flank.

Lower Sabie and Tshokwane to Orpen / Sabie Sands

This bull has been named by SANParks.
Characteristics
Heavy / thick splayed tusks. Left tusk straighter and longer then the right tusk. Right ear: several ear notches, V-shaped tear to the center of the ear and a U-shaped notch at the lower part near the neckline.
Range
Very southern part of the Kruger NP (Malelane- Gardenia Hide - Jock Concession)

Monday 18 November 2013.
The weather really closed in during the afternoon. We drove the Munshe Loop, took a quick detour to Mlondozi Dam and back to Lower Sabie.
The only thing worth pointing the camera at was this tusker, whom Aat has named Zambhala. It was almost dark when I took this picture at 17:22.

Characteristics
A characteristic large v-shaped notch in the middle of the left earlobe, notable small hole about 10 cm below the tear.

Characteristics
Thick left tusk, bowed and curved upwards. Right tusk is very short , has been broken.
Remarkable, this bull is huge.
