Well now, I got back on Thursday and started work the day after and have only started to convert the thousands of pictures taken.
For those who thought that I'd pass my time belly up on the beach I can only say that the day I arrived I took my watch, shoes and socks off and only put them back on the morning I left. Pure bliss to just stay away from the world and everything else that made up my/our daily life.
The first week was passed with my sister and brother in law and thoroughly enjoyed meeting up again and have great laughs and fun together.
My sisters house is probably one of the most beautiful along the Kenya coast, will post a few pictures further on, and passing our time there was something special in every sense. Her place is a little zoo with dogs, cats, parrots, pet pigs, guineas fowl, 4 species of monkeys, ducks, geese and loads of wild birds and a giant fish pond with giant Koi's.
Of course we had a whole beach to ourselves and that in itself was special and worth travelling for.
Most of you will have heard of all the security problems Kenya is facing and because of this, and because I was travelling with wife and son, we decided to remain at home and rarely went out and about.
Here's the view I had on my first sun rise there, hot cup at 6 am sitting by the pool.......pure bliss!
Another great thing about my sisters place is the number of birds always around the garden and I enjoyed bird watching at all hours.

For those who may be interested; the security situation in Kenya is on one side due to the Somali civil war, Kenya has over 2 million somali refugees, and on the other internal political fights which have turned tribal and so pretty brutal. Tourists have been involved and all this has caused a very deep crises in the tourism industry. I knew about it before leaving but was shocked to see how deep the crises really is and what effect it has having on te local population. Beach hotels are empty and so are most of the game lodges/camps and consequently so are all the other businesses that live around the tourism industry. Tragic and alarming to see.
Our safari to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve was great and I enjoyed being back there. Deep crises all along and most camps/lodges were empty and maybe this gave the game a break from the continuos hassling by safari vehicles.
To be continued. Enjoy
