AWC - there were quite a number of AWCs this year, and all of the ones we saw were on the Auob side or the Lower Dune Road
Oct. 1
Oct. 11
Oct. 18
Oct. 26 - This is the sighting where we were told by the gentleman that he was looking at "cheetahs"
Murphy's Law of Action Photography - as soon as any action begins, a bush will jump out in front of it

Annoying-Songs-That-Stick-In-Your-Head-All-Day
You know, the ones with irritating melodies and/or pathetic lyrics that lie dormant, but festering, in your brain until someone wakes them up and then you sing them to yourself all day.
Feel free to offer up your own entries, with or without pics.
CAPTAIN AND TENNILLE -
Muskrat Love
TOKEN -
The Lion Sleeps Tonight
In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle, the quiet jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
Wimoweh, wimoweh, wimoweh, wimoweh
Wimoweh, wimoweh, wimoweh, wimoweh
Sorry, I don't have a photo of a "wimoweh", unless that's Elmer Fudd talking, then I DO have a pic of a "limb away"
DISNEY -
It's a Small World
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world
And a world with an equally small vocabulary, apparently.

THE TRASHMEN -
Surfin' Bird (a.k.a. The Bird's the Word)
A-well-a, everybody's heard about the bird
Bird, bird, bird, b-bird's the word
A-well-a, bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word
A-well-a, bird, bird, bird, well, the bird is the word.
Or in this case:
A-well-a, everybody's heard about the blurd
Go ahead and tar and feather me now. I deserve it.
BOBBY MCFERRIN -
Don't Worry Be Happy
Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh
(Don't worry)
Ooh oo-ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh
(Be happy)
Ooh oo-ooh oo-ooh
(Don't worry, be happy)
CHUCK BERRY -
My Ding-aling (a.k.a. MEL -
"My Precious")
My ding a ling, my ding a ling
I want to play with my ding a ling
My ding a ling, my ding a ling
I want to play with my ding a ling
For all you with the wrong impression about this song, it's about "silver bells hanging on a string", tho' I've never heard it called that before.
PS. I really wanted to use this one for "It's A Small World"

Keeping with the song theme….
Often Misquoted Lyrics
Sometimes the words to songs are either honestly misunderstood, or purposefully misconstrued, but either way I find some of them amusing. (Remember, I'm easily amused.
)
THE MONKEES – I'm A Believer
Then I saw her face,
Now I'm gonna leave her
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
OR
Then I saw her face,
She looks like a retriever
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
TOTO - Africa
I left my brains down in Africa

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL - Bad Moon Rising
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bathroom on the right.
The EAGLES - Desperado
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You’ve been outright offensive, for so long now
The SHIRELLES - Dedicated To The One I Love
This is dedicated to the one-eyed dove.

THE BEATLES - Ticket to Ride
She's got a chicken to ride
She's got a chicken to ride
She's got a chicken to ride
But she don't care
THE BEATLES - Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
(The Girl With Kaleidoscope Eyes)
Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
The girl with colitis goes by.
SHANIA TWAIN - You're Still The One
Looks like we mated

JIMI HENDRIX - Purple Haze
'Scuse me, while I kiss this guy.
IRON BUTTERFLY – In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
In a glob 'o velveeta, baby
In a glob 'o velveeta, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
(Work with me here people. It's called artistic license.
)
IN THE SPIRIT OF FULL DISCLOSURE:
As luck would have it, every time I've come across a glob of velveeta in the wild I haven't stopped to take a picture of it.
THIS IS NOT A GLOB OF VELVEETA.
(FYI - The "
impaired" singer was attempting to enunciate
"In the Garden of Eden", the actual title of the song. Seems he was "
One Toke Over the Line, Sweet Jesus"…)
BREAD - Baby I'm-a Want You
Baby I'm-a Want You
Baby I'm-a Need You
(Baby I'm-a too lazy to write lyrics with enough syllables, so I'll just add an extra 'a' whenever I'm-a need a syllable.)
I think I'm-a stop here.

Two Christians and an Atheist
“
A serious and good philosophical work could be written consisting entirely of jokes”
Ludwig Wittgenstein (whoever he is)
So here's my feeble attempt…(Heaven help me.)
As I reflected upon this photo, it struck me that this was an obvious meeting of
"Two Christians and an Atheist" (that's it's title, hence the " " thingys). All great works of art, such as this one, have a "Title"…such as "
Mona Lisa" as seen here:
Okay, back to:
Knock Knock
Who's there?
Maybe God. Maybe not
What do atheists cry out during sex?
Oh Scientific Method
Q: Did you hear about the the evangelical atheist?
A: She went door to door with a book full of blank pages.
Q: What does a dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac do?
A: Stays awake all night wondering if there really is a Dog.
Atheist: What's this fly doing in my soup?
Waiter: Praying.
Atheist: Very funny. I can't eat this. Take it back.
Waiter: You see? The fly's prayers were answered.
Poignant
and profound,
not to mention a "serious and good philosophical work".

Life List
Instead of a
"Bucket List" of things to DO before I die, I cherish more my
"Life List" of things I will VALUE while I am still alive.
One of the most important to me is the power of silence.
"Silence" has a sound - the sound of your own heartbeat, of perhaps a tranquil soul and a heart at peace with itself, or perhaps the sound of your inner self working through its own maze of complexities. Either way, and including all degrees in between, it is the condition of quietude that brings both deep awe and healing. Just as a good nights sleep rejuvenates the mind, body, and soul, so too do the moments spent in introspection, silencing our ego and conscious mind, revealing our true self.
The Kgalagadi offers many opportunities to do just that, amongst its quieter inhabitants.
“
Speak only if it improves upon the silence.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
