A revisit to the lions w/ the giraffe found them plump and lazy, as expected.

Image

After awhile, one got up and made the long trek to the waterhole. I stayed with the remaining one, as pics of a lion walking, drinking, then walking again didn't interest me, not to mention all the cars trailing behind him.

Eventually this one got up and approached the carcass.

As it got hotter and hotter, he made a laudable attempt to drag it into the shade. 0*\

Unsuccessful (naturally), he walked over to the shade, trailing a string of innards, and snoozed. His partner returned to guard the prize. A successful tag team approach that insured no thievery under their watch.

They did allow this crow to peck around,

but this poor jackal :-( could do nothing but wait even longer than the 2 DAYS he had already been there. What an incredibly harsh life, and sometimes hard to contemplate.

Back at camp, fire blazing, a more serene scene brought another exciting day to an end, and inspired introspection and quiet conversation with myself.

Just caught up again ExFmem. \O

You should get one of them tiny military type can openers. Them works betterer than the real thingy.

How very helpful of the gemsbok to point you into the right direction lol
Masego looks better than in some of the previous photos after her splitting from mum. She seems to be a real fighter \O

I figured that your young(er) lions were the one who took out the giraffe and the lion I had seen at it, was an older male scavenging O**
The three of them had a bit of a scrap over the kill but seem to have settled for the idea that there was enough food for all of them. lol

The crow photo doesn't show for me. I see a page of a notebook scribbled with stuff I can't read. -O-
