One curiousity on our last full day certainly was the fact that a springbok dropped dead in the shrubs / grass behind the waterhole. I'm not sure what happened, but there were two decent sized herds around which all of a suddened bolted into two different directions, making believe a predator was making his / her way into the camp. At the end of the day I had to conclude that they were just totally scared by a mate falling flat on the ground. It didn't take lone for the cleaning crew, aka the vultures to zoom in. I don't have any decent pix from their feeding activity because the grass and shrubs were in the way from our perspective. I actually had to go all the way to unit number 4 to find out why they had come in the first place. Only from there and only by sitting on the wall there I was able to make out the dead springbok. But in the evening, the some of the vultures made their to the waterhole and with a nice sundown, they made for a great photo opportunity.

Lovely selection of photos.
Just love the one of the lonely Gemsbok in the shade of a tree.

I just love the green from the tree and the brown from the sand in the background and wildebeest standing under the tree

Sounds heavenly just to sit and watch the waterhole all day!!

Lovely pics of all the comings and goings.
Poor springbok just falling down dead...I wonder why?

The big tree makes for a beautiful "center piece" in the pics
Nice to see elands. No oxpeckers in KTP ?
So the waterhole is filled up manually from a pipeline?

Great shots of the herds visiting
I didn't realise eland could be seen in KTP
Strange about the springbok pegging out - possibly one of the rarest sightings of all in the wild... a 'natural' death

What wonderful pics, Mello! And stories!
So nice to see old trees...no elephant!
Springbok fatality maybe a pregnancy thing?
