Thanks Pumbaa & Flutts O0

We were up early the next morning and it was still dark as we entered the park - it makes quite a difference now that the summer gate opening time is 5:30am

It was again rather quiet but after an hour we came across a lone buffalo at Marion Baree. Getting into the water to drink was obviously less effort than doing so from the sides ;-)

There was a jackal hanging around, which we thought was probably the same one we had seen the day before. After a while it popped out into an open area and seemed to be carrying what looked like some kind of dead mole :-? -O- -O-

We were then treated to a typical dog display (our dog at home does exactly the same thing when she catches moles), where it threw the mole around in the air and then rolled around on it... doesn't sound like a good habit, but it was fun to watch lol \O

There had been storms brewing in the area and one came quite suddenly overhead. A big crash of thunder sent the poor jackal scampering off with a bit of a scared whine lol

We had a good look around the south of the park to see if there was any sign of Josie and her sub-adult family, but again everything was very quiet. There were some buffalo bulls along Harveys loop and near the tree at the end of the loop there was a small herd in the open

Image

Ngulube was empty except for a few zebra and hartebeest so we trundled back up into the north of the park to explore the Zuurkop area where a young elephant bull came marching towards us O:V

It was time to go and pack up our tent but I received a message that the cheetah had been spotted. We had never managed to see them since their break-in about a year and a half ago, so we decided the tent packing would just have to wait. They were near the east gate of the park, about 1km away from us so very difficult to see 0: 0:

They weren't doing much so we decided to head back and pack up so that we could try and find them again after lunch \O
