Interesting all round!
It looks like the ellie lost his trunk in a snare, but that is very high up?!
I've seen quite healthy ones with trunks cut off low down, but this one doesn't look good.
The pain must be terrible, as the trunks are packed with nerves!
They can also breathe through the mouth, fortunately.
The nearest communities are MILES away on Moz side, so he must have travelled?

These ladies were far away near the far embankment looking for shade to spend day.

Alf, I have been looking for some pictures related to this road and found some special ones. Between Shingwedzi camp and Kanniedood Dam we found this White Impala (photos made in 2011)

another great moment on that first part of this road was my first encounter with tusker NKOMBO
Photos also made in 2011 and his tusks were not impressive as they are today. In 2011 he was still wearing a collar.
