If they hardly ever get prosecuted for it , why would they stop??

Snaring is as old as conservation itself. The theory is that this is mostly subsistence poaching for starving communities. However it is now on a commercial scale, IMO. Greed.

If they burnt them, means that they were not out for lions. Strange though that they both ended up in snares

Some more info would be enlightening.
Sanparks must do something serious in order to stop people putting out snares
