Lovely sightings!

What a huge lion pride!!
When I saw your barn owl pic I wondered what happened to the resident barn owl at Mankwe Hide...hope it got away and has found a new home!
Good question Flutterby. I am sure he is ok and found another home.
He was the cutest little guy and was not shy.

8 October 2018 - A tense hour at Rathlogo Hide.
We popped in at Rathlogo Hide and some kind folk showed us some lion lying under some bushes.
First we saw this male and female watching some approaching zebra.
The zebra were very nervous but wanted to drink some water.
If you look closely at this photo you can see two females under the brown bush on the left and the male and female if you look straight up between the two zebra under the green bush.
Every one in the hide had their index finger hovering over the cameras trigger button.
Nothing happened and the zebra trotted off back from where they had come.
Next, a kudu cow which had been drinking walked directly towards the lioness.
One could have cut the tension with a knife.
Both stood still for what seemed an eternity, all trigger fingers were now aching.
All of a sudden the kudu took off at right angles and disappeared into the bush.
One could a hear collective sigh of disappointment or was it relief??????
It was now 12:30 and we decided to head back to camp for lunch and nap.
we would come back later in the afternoon.

8 October 2018 - afternoon.
After a quick bite and a nap we made our back to Rathlogo Hide.
However, our trip there was interrupted by Orion on the hunt stalking some Wildebeest.
Unfortunately his attempt failed and walked back as if nothing had happened.
He then disappeared into the bushes so moved onto Rathlogo hoping to see some lion activity.
This all we saw.
They lay like that for a good hour so we made our way back to camp.
Managed to get these giraffe in the late afternoon sun.
