Re: Its a WILD life....
About a month or so ago, Fatty and dude were lazing around on the lawn, and suddenly loads of Starlings etc flocked to the lawn and started pecking at the grass. It seemed like a cross between a grasshopper and parktown prawn were "hatching".... Not sure what it was, but haven't seen them again

Re: Its a WILD life....
They don't belong in a human world, is what I'm trying to say!
Our local equivalent is the armoured cricket...a hideous monster that does not even come out of wherever it stays every year.
One can see plagues of them on a feeding frenzy in Kruger sometimes, squashed by cars ad nauseam. Have seen a half-squashed one eating itself, no jokes!
Had one in the house once, when Dwarf was still a lodger here, if memory serves...but it could have been another venue.
Anyway, we took turns blasting it with Doom Insecticide, and it laughed and sent us running around screaming. After a few dops I gave it some massive whacks with a shoe, and left it for dead, and peace returned. (Wasn't going near the corpse!
)
Lo and behold, the next morning it had dragged itself off into a corner on its two remaining legs, maybe one leg?
I think Dwarf bludgeoned it further with a camping spade and chucked it out.
These things are from the devil!
