Great sighting PJL but I find it sad that every lion at Addo has always had a collar no exceptions since the beginning in 2003 when they came ...Its like a giant farm of lions ..rather like the Lion Park ..only difference is that at Addo they catch their own food ..I really hope that in years to come they leave them unmolested to be lions like their brothers in Kruger, Kgalagadi, Etosha , Moremi, Hwange, Mana Pools etc Also on a selfish note as a photographer I really hate removing a collar of an Addo lion in Photoshop every time especially lionesses ...They look like Bull Mastiffs with them on LOL ...Roy is a beaut in his adult days

Yes it is a bit of a shame from a photographic point of view that the lions have collars, but I guess it's because they need much closer management than in other places with the main game area of Addo being relatively small. But it's not a lion park - some people go multiple times a year for many years and still haven't seen lion in Addo

Interesting day
A pity about the cubs

Would they stay behind alone at that age?

Very lucky, PJL!
Can only agree with Mel!
So nice of the staff to go out of their way to inform the tourists...seems to be a different attitude down in the Cape...
You should get a contact with the Herald or something over there!

Yes they would be left alone still. Unfortunately without a typical pride structure Josie is being a single mom without any assistance. So for hunting purposes she'll continue to leave them alone at times - the cubs were actually seen the other day on their own
