Sorry for letting you wait so long but we have been on summer Holidays for two weeks in Denmark but now we are back
The longer one sit in the hide busy in searching for something to see the more you will see – We discovered more green backed herons
observed the now unguarded nest of eggs of the jacana
and were extreme delighted in finally also admiring the African darter for the first time for us at Lake Panic. Same was sitting on the dead tree when looking to the right, still a bit far away but we were confident that same might come a bit closer.
In between we concentrated again on the green backed heron
and finally also one of the pied kingfishers we already spotted far away landed closer and even presented a just caught fish
and after same had been swallowed its strange hairdo.
After it got a bit quieter on the birding site we had also time for the always colourful dragon flies
and now the also the darter changed its position as well
and also the squacco heron was now willing to pose after same kept nearly the whole time we spotted same earlier hidden.
Finally the malachite was present again

once more with another fish
as well as the masked weaver
needless to say that most of the people in the hide moved meanwhile to this side to get the best shots.
Overall it was quite a busy come and go but we had an incredible fantastic time again in the hide with our beloved feathered friends especially with the darter,
the pied kingfishers
and finally also with a juvenile fish eagle who just landed
on the waterside of the lake and was busy with looking in the water.
After same eyed long enough its own reflection it more or less jumped onto a really small tree stump
And observed now life from a slightly higher angle.
After a more than fantastic while same finally took off and disappeared but gladly at such a place there is always something to be seen and now one of the the pied kingfishers
could be admired
and even landed quite close to where we sat.
to be continued…….

The hairdo of the malachite Kingfisher is hilarious
The Fisheagle is beautiful, especially with wings open
Lots of other great birds.
The next time I'll be going to the Lake Panic hide, I'll try to sit there for a looong time, it seems to pay off
