Rhino poaching arrests
Date: 29th August 2013
South African National Parks (SANParks) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested four suspected rhino poachers for Conspiracy to illegally hunt rhino in the Kruger National Park (KNP) in the past twenty four hours.
The first two arrests took place on the 27th and after further investigations, a further two were arrested on the 29th outside the Park.
A semi auto 12 bore shotgun, ammunition and other hunting equipment was recovered. Further arrests are expected to take place as investigations continue.
The operation was intelligence driven.
In a separate incident in the Mahlangeni region of the KNP, SANParks Rangers made contact with a group of three suspected poachers, one of the poachers was fatally wounded and the other two managed to escape under the cover of darkness. A .458 rifle, ammunition and poaching equipment were recovered.

Chumlong Lemtongthai, who organised illegal rhino poaching trips and admitted to playing a large part in a scheme that used white rhino trophy hunts in South Africa as a cover for smuggling horns to black markets in Asia, was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment today!!

The guy appeals his previous sentence and still ends up with 30 years
Hopefully no parole in 8 years.
