A close up pic of the Doc. for you all.
We continued to watch the water cascade down the cataract, mesmerised by the sheer power and force.
A little further on, the main falls were even more impressive.
So I tried my best with the little mik-en-druk to get some pics that I would be happy with.
Trying to capture the raw energy in play here.
Further along, the spray was lifting so thick that you could hardly see the falls.
So we started to head back to the gate along the path through the forest. J. was busy sending photos to A. on his phone when I looked up to see a Taita Falcon chasing swifts high up over the falls. I knew that they were once regular here, but they had all but disapeared due to the disturbance from all the constant helicopter flights over the falls. I was elated as I never thought I'd see one in such a setting. It was all over in a few moments as the falcon and swifts were lost in the thick spray. We searched and searched, but did not see it again.
"Chobe" Bushbuck were also present here. A differently marked animal to the ones I've seen S.A. Terrestrial brownbuls & bearded Scrub-robins were also common along the forest edge either side of the path here.
Heading back towards town, we decidet to really treat ourselves and went to the Vic Falls Hotel. I thought it would be nice to stay for one night "just for the tick" but on seeing the prices, decided to opt for a beer in the bar. After searching deep into my camera bag, I found just enough $$$'s to pay for two Peroni's, so we sat there enjoying the view.
Cheers everyone.
