Squacco on that dam seems a rare sight to me

Sunset is cool X#X
We see many more Greenbacked Herons than Squaccos but a lot more Squaccos than Black-crowned Night Herons so it's unusual for us but not rare.

I love the tinys, elephant babies are my favourite, they are so entertaining!

Lovely lil'ones ^Q^ The squacco is excellent too \O

There are often lions somewhere near Croc Bridge, but certainly not so close and on a kill O/\ O/\

We have seen a black-crowned heron and a green-backed one at the same time at the dam

We've seen lions on the approach road to Croc on many occasions but not on the kill before.

I think there was a Squacco Heron at Sweni Hide earlier in the day, but it was to well hidden to get a picture.

WOW RP, you are learning all sorts of interesting things these days - I think you'd learn much if I gave YOU the Birds and the Boons talk O** (and if you think I'm going to sit on your knee, you have another think coming)

Stand by for the tsunami of disgust that will be generated when I reveal photographic evidence of the true nature of the Boon! The incident I recorded was so revolting that Stargazer could not stand to glance at it.

Day 10 Monday 19 November : Crocodile Bridge.

Five nights at Croc Bridge, a camp we haven't stayed at for a few years. I was pleased to see that it was still as well kept as ever and the game viewing in the area was excellent.

Up and out at gate opening time on the first morning.

The S28/S137/S130 is one of our favourite drives in the park. We've had so many great sightings on these roads that we almost expect to see something good.

We travelled clockwise this morning.

Giraffes in jumbo, regular and economy sizes.

The dead tree in the middle of the S130 with extra ornamentation.

A well fed Hyaena!

We took a detour to Lower Sabie for breakfast.

At the weir on the Sabie River; ever wonder who does the camp's laundry?
Image

A little further on, a mobile traffic jam was inching towards us. We stopped, waited and got a grandstand view!

He was stalking some Impies.

But got rumbled.

Sunset Dam was looking a bit dry.

To be continued....
