When does SANParks decide to do something about the snares? At least a press release condemning it and stressing that it is against the law and punishable???? They are always talking a lot about the support they are giving to the communities etc. etc. now it is time to make the communities understand that the Kruger is not their private hunting field
The communities see an Impala as fresh meat and nothing else This is Africa. Bushmeat poaching has been in all African reserves and in Kruger since before Tourists came in 1931 for the first time

If they only took an impala from time to time, it would be OK, but there are so many other animals getting hurt/killed by the snares, especially the hyenas

It is unusual as the Croc River is quite high...
Why would a river in temporary fullness hold a Snare setter at bay
They check their snares every day or two, otherwise it defeats the object.

I Reckon they mostly leave the snares for days to let the caught animals die properly

1/ In 2018 vets and rangers removed a snare that was around a lioness abdomen close to Nyamundwa dam. She had a litter of Cubs with her at the time.
The same lioness was seen last night with two Cubs close to the Nwasiwitshaka Experimental Burning Plots.

2/ The snare wound can still be seen but has healed nicely. Rangers think this is her second litter since the snare was removed.
It shows what the impact is of saving one individual. But we must fully understand that every case needs to be treated and assessed individually.

3/ Thanks very much to everyone for all the effort and trouble that goes into catching, treating and saving snared animals.

A cable snare was removed from this elephant, and it was treated by KNP vets.
