So species that weren't endemic to the area should not be there etc etc... which is why Addo doesn't have giraffe or white rhino etc. Personally I think they are now endemic - they arrived by themselves

Either way, it seems that the park staff aren't too bothered about removing them for the time being which is good news - hopefully I'll get to see them sometime soon! It's also great for the jackals and other scavengers because they kill pretty much every day and don't tend to eat everything $\O$

Meerkats $O/\$ I find them very elusive, only got to see one far off on one of the drives... They looks quite fluffy as well.
Must be coldish down there.

It is freeeeezing at the moment Mel

There are 2 places in the park where I sometimes see meerkat - the domkrag loop and hapoor area. Hapoor seems to produce more regular sightings $\O$

The forecast weather hit us before lunchtime but I managed to catch this bokmakierie before the downpours started

We also managed to get close to one of the very few herds of ellies we saw

When the rain hit it was hard to see anything, but some eland on the domkrag loop were really quite close. It seemed they were keen to cross the road but weren't sure about the vehicles around. After much meandering they finally bolted across the road which was great to see and hear... it's probably the closest I've been to these giants in Addo.

We didn't see too much else the rest of the day. There were some buffalo close to the car but the rain was blowing against my window so I didn't really feel like getting soaked just for a pic. This cape longclaw looked very grumpy with the wet weather and we soon headed home.
